- At the age of 14, he left his home in Kozhikode, Kerala, to train in 100m and 200m sprinting at Kalladi Higher Secondary School in Palakkad.
- Before choosing athletics for his sports career, he was interested in playing volleyball and football.
- He practised different athletic games for a year such as sprints, long jump, high jump, shot put, and hurdles before choosing triple jump.
- In 2015, he had an ankle injury due to which he could not participate in 2016 competitions. Later, he also had minor injuries on his heel and back. He got injured for four consecutive years from 2015 to 2019.
